I FEEL that I should respond to the letter from Terry Jerrard (Daily Echo, July 16) over his concerns about the new housing development on Duck Lane.
Whilst I understand the sentiments expressed and understand his lovely memories I am proud of what the council has been able to achieve on this site.
It has been several years since the area was formally used as playing fields. In its place we have been able to provide much needed affordable housing for local families and facilities for the local community. The new skate park is amongst the best in the country and the community centre will provide a wonderful venue. The houses are well designed with good-sized gardens, ample parking and are highly energy efficient.
The council is holding an open day for the community centre on Saturday, August 15 and all local residents are welcome to attend to see what has been developed and what we hope to achieve in the future.
