FOLLOWING your publication of Tobias Elwood’s letter in support of the MPs’ pay rise yesterday, I would like to say that I don’t particularly have a problem with the pay increase being given, if justified by the watchdog.
What I do find offensive is the letter written in support.
Part of Tobias’ constituency is Boscombe which falls into the top 1 per cent of socially deprived areas in the UK.
That our elected representative can say he is “watching the pennies” whilst those he represents are truly struggling, is nothing short of disgusting.
It is a case of him not living in the real world, and not understanding the day-to-day problems faced by hundreds of people across Bournemouth.
Poverty is a real problem being faced by people everyday, and I find it reprehensible that Tobias on his salary and expenses would have the audacity to claim he is struggling.
