CAN I seriously suggest that if Jeff Williams (‘Let’s stick with facts’, Letters, July 1) thinks you won’t clearly see the wind turbines, he goes to that well-known chain of opticians?

Even the photos produced by Navitus itself show how intrusive they will be. They will appear at least as high as Old Harry Rocks, being about four times as high and less than four times as far away. That’s triangulation for you. And from Swanage they will appear much larger as they are significantly closer. And there will be around 150 of them.

I am also amused by the phrase supporters of the windfarm use describing the huge turbines as “majestic structures”. Yes, just like the IMAX. And what’s more we will be paying £750,000 a day in subsidy to keep them going. Far, far greener to spend that money on home insulation and energy conservation rather than inefficient generation.
