ON behalf of Wareham Rangers FC youth section, I would like to express the club’s gratitude to BEEREX for their kind and generous donation which will ensure all youth teams will have new footballs to train with and use in matches.

I would also like to thank all kit sponsors, too numerous to mention, for ensuring that each age group team turns out for games looking resplendent in the traditional yellow and black strip of Wareham Rangers.

In an era where childhood obesity is a real issue and getting kids off computers, social media and generally the sofa, the volunteers who give up their own time to ensure children get physical exercise by running youth football clubs such as ours also deserve a mention.

Those volunteers, yes they are volunteers, who receive no remuneration for their efforts and believe it or not have ‘day jobs’ as well, fulfil various roles within the club such as coaches, managers, secretaries, treasurers, groundsmen, chairmen and perhaps most importantly providers of tea/coffee are all worthy of our thanks.

It is not just in Wareham, but throughout Purbeck that these unsung heroes of our community contribute to the physical wellbeing of our local youngsters and give those children a chance to run around and most importantly enjoy themselves.

The volunteers, local organisations and businesses deserve a big thank you.
