YOUR correspondent Arthur May (Letters, May 15) repeats accusations first made by Poole & Christchurch Bays Association (P&CBA) spokesman PA Dewhurst (Letters, May 8).

I can’t imagine what kind of problem Arthur May feels a 100m wind turbine would create if it were sited a mile across town and out of sight. So why he repeats PA Dewhurst’s NIMBY accusation is entirely beyond me.

Arthur May also accuses me of being “not a scientist”, an idea earlier mooted by P&CBA ‘expert’ Dr Phillip Bratby (Letters, May 1). Dr Bratby correctly tells us that scientists rely on evidence not authority. You do not need a First Class degree in physics or to be distinguished to do science. Rather you require the ability to let the evidence speak for itself.

Dr Bratby does seem to have problems with evidence.

Despite the evidence to the contrary, he is deluded enough to believe that there has been no global warming in 18 years. And despite having himself worked with computer models, Dr Bratby still cannot understand how future climate can be modelled when we cannot predict weather more than a few days in advance.

Most bizarre of all are Dr Bratby’s submissions to the Navitus enquiry. He argues that wind farms can result in more CO2 emissions not less. As the P&CBA accept this obviously-nonsensical argument, it clearly demonstrates that the P&CBA are way out of their depth with Navitus.
