THE eye-bulgingly stupid letter of May 8 from PA Dewhurst beggars belief.

In 2007 I did indeed oppose a planned 100m wind turbine. The developers attempted to shoehorn this turbine into the Water Works site between Belben Road and Francis Avenue.

The tips of the blades would have been whistling round within 107 metres of back gardens, 118 metres from back bedrooms. Shadow flicker would have blighted over 100 homes. The noise assessment was greatly flawed.

The only reason the noise figures were not a total joke was because the once award-winning Alderney West Estate had had a busy dual carriageway driven through the middle of it and the noise from the road allowed for a noisier turbine to be installed.

I opposed that 2007 turbine plan not because I am a ‘NIMBY’. I live over a mile away. I opposed it because it was demonstrably wrong.

I support the Navitus project because the arguments against Navitus are unfounded. Indeed, it is the arguments presented by the likes of PA Dewhurst and his Poole & Christchurch Bays Association that are demonstrably wrong.
