I’M sure most of us would agree that it is always the minority that set a bad example.

Our bin collectors are magnificent, out in all weathers, friendly and most helpful, so why, I ask myself, did this one driver have a meltdown, spoiling that image?

After all, I was just driving along a side road and on seeing him and his lorry with a multitude of lights flashing heading towards me with no intention of stopping, I pulled in, as did the driver behind me, to allow him to pass.

During that short space of time he indicated to turn right into the road I was parked across. No problem, having seen the predicament, the driver behind reversed to allow me to do the same to let the lorry have room to continue. So why did the driver then embark on a verbal mouthing and graphic hand gestures indicating that apart from other things I was blind? I too adopted hand gestures for him to calm down as I feared for his heart but this just seemed to aggravate him more and I took the soft option of moving on before he made the next move, which, on looking at him, could have been anything?
