HAVING seen a 2kw electrical convector heater for sale at £20 in a local shop, I made the interesting calculation that £6,000 of wind generator would be needed to power this heater.
£2,000 of back-up generator would also be required in case it was switched on when the wind was not blowing. £3,000 per kilowatt is the investment cost given for the Navitus Bay scheme.
This cost does not include the expensive 22 mile underground cable connection to the National Grid through the New Forest. Economic lunacy or time to ban convector heaters?
