I’D like to respond to the letter published April 15 regarding the land train fares on the seafront.
The land trains are very popular with visitors and residents alike and have seen an increase in usage over the past couple of years, especially with the expanded route into Boscombe town centre.
A further expansion of the route will happen this summer meaning customers will benefit from a circular route linking up the East Overcliff Drive, East Cliff lift, Toft Steps and Russell Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, in addition to the existing routes between Boscombe and Alum Chine.
The all day ticket was first introduced in 2013 and has become increasingly popular, last year accounting for the majority of sales.
In tandem with the expanded routes we have chosen to remove the single stage fare but freeze the cost of the all day ticket giving customers better value, more flexibility and greater choice.
We will, of course continue to monitor the impact of these changes and will gauge feedback from our customers on all aspects of the service as the season continues.
