I WROTE last September to thank the people of Christchurch and Highcliffe for raising £346.27 as I ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon for the Brooke Hospital for Animals.

This time, I’m writing to thank these same people for their donations as I take it a step further.

On Sunday 26th April I will be lining up to start the 2015 London Marathon in aid of The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon.

Over the last six months, I’ve been fundraising in Christchurch and Highcliffe as well as keeping some tins in shops around Christchurch.

I am delighted to report that, so far, you have all raised £754.95 meaning my £1000 fundraising target, when combined with online donations, has been smashed.

Your donations will help the Donkey Sanctuary to continue its work in more than 28 countries across the world, rescuing donkeys in distress and educating people in how to look after these friendly animals.

All those spare pennies really do add up, so thank you very much.

I’ll try to give you all a wave on the TV in a couple of weeks’ time. Six months, £1085.62 and 388 miles later: I feel ready to do this, for the donkeys.
