IT is not right to talk about “hype from Bournemouth councillors saying nobody wants the wind farm” (Sandra Fincham, letters, March 28).

Navitus Bay has actually attracted more objections from the public than any other wind farm in the UK.

Compared to the one at Brighton (Rampion), there have been ten times the number and for very good reasons.

All local MPs oppose it and one of them (Conor Burns, Bournemouth West) had a recent survey done by mailing all his constituents on the electoral roll. The result? 87 per cent against.

The council held an even-handed public information meeting on May 10, 2014, at the BIC . The purpose? To gauge the opinion of its residents and then decide council policy. The result? 86 per cent voted that it would be bad for Bournemouth.

These are typical figures from public meetings which sometimes even have unanimous opposition when the vote is taken.

As for tourism, we must remember that 32 per cent have said in a visitor survey that they would not return during the five-year construction period. Some “benefit”, some “attraction”!

Navitus Bay wind farm would be too big, too close and in the wrong place.
