WE have all been told many times that fossil fuels are fast running out, so we must think seriously about other forms of keeping our ‘lights’ on.

Windfarms – unsightly as they are – is one idea, solar panels and underwater turbines others.

Fracking for oil to fire up our power stations and, yes, even nuclear power have all come under fire from the protesters, but none of these protesters have come up with an alternative.

I have nothing against a protest about anything, but to make a protest valid, they should come up with constructive alternatives but I have yet to see or hear of any.

This country does not produce enough power sources to satisfy the millions of people here, so we have to import gas from Russia and electricity from France, meaning that either of these suppliers could simply turn their taps off; then where would we be?

Among the hordes of protesters out there, I feel that there is someone with some ‘grey’ matter to give us some sort of ideas on how we can at least survive any disruption in our power supplies.

Constructive criticism is what is called for, not simply protesting for the sake of our own selfish wants.
