CONSERVATIVE Cllr David Smith wants those convicted of drug offences to be given longer sentences in gaol (Letters, January 26).
Yet his Party has a policy of minimal time inside, for any sort of crime.
And, despite (or because of) this easygoing attitude towards all crime and all criminals, the prisons are already full.
So where would Mr Smith like to see all the new ones made necessary by longer sentences built?
Has the council’s planning department earmarked land for such use?
I doubt it.
