I reside opposite the planned development in Grove Road. Whilst I am not against the proposal in principle, I am against the overall height of the buildings.

For instance, the nine-storey central residential living block will be 104ft overall, some 35ft taller than the eight-storey block directly behind it.

The design of the new blocks incorporate balconies facing north (inland) and therefore there will be a complete loss of privacy for the buildings facing them – no other building between Meyrick Road and Manor Road has a north facing balcony.

The smaller flatlet houses on the north side of Grove Road will be over shadowed.

The whole facade of the sea facing hotel is bland with no character whatsoever when compared to the Art Deco style of the Cumberland Hotel.

The management of the Quantum Group keeps emphasising the facilities being proposed – for example, a gym and a restaurant – as though it is something Bournemouth lacks.

Yes, it would be nice to see the area tidied up but not to the detriment of the local residents with these overbearing replacements against what is already there.
