I COULDN’T agree more with James Straight reference the new cycle lane and lights on Castle Lane at the East Way junction (Have Your Say, November 19).
There was a perfectly adequate cycle lane marked out on the wide path on the opposite side of Castle Lane which provided safe passage for both cyclists and pedestrians.
The set of cycling traffic lights can be confused with the vehicle traffic lights and as you approach from the west it can be difficult to distinguish cycle path from the rest of the carriageway as its all black tarmac, and the raised kerbing looks like a white line, not at all cycle friendly.
If the council wants to invest in making our roads more cycle friendly it’s a pity they don’t do it where it’s needed and provide something that improves safety and that is adequate, rather than going over the top.
