YOUR article on vegan dieting has spurred me on to relate one of my experiences to you when working on the Operating Theatres at Boscombe hospital some years ago. Unlike today, nursing was not put into sections of training – we worked on every aspect of the human body including the bowel and intestines.

One exploratory operation on a woman’s bowel and small intestine revealed her small intestines were growing a large mass of meat filaments along the inside wall. This created a risk to her. The diagnosis was confirmed by laboratory tests.

I agree it is cruel to kill animals to satisfy our diet, but it should be made known how much harm it does to humans who include meat in their diet. We can live more healthily without meat, as I have proved to myself for years.
