COUNCILLOR Barry Goldbart (Echo, Letters 8.11.14) asserts, speaking of Navitus Bay: “The fact is that the vast majority of our residents do not want this scheme to proceed.”

The latest Synthesis Report from the IPCC warns of the impending “severe, widespread and irreversible” impacts of climate change. Local Friends of the Earth are asking the inspectorate several searching questions, including the rising costs of the frequency and severity of storm events as well as the impact of uncontrolled climate change on the local coastline and tourist economy.

It would be great if all our local political leaders were to lead on action to prevent this disaster in the making.
