WHAT a “first impression” Poole Town (especially the public toilets) must give to visitors (Kenneth Mitchell’s letter, Friday November 7).
I totally agree with him on some points. I have the same opinion, not only in this town but whenever I visit other towns, and only last week I had to complain to Weymouth and Portland council about the toilets on North Quay (obviously not long been refurbished), but as stated about the quay visitors car park toilets here are filthy, stank and could do with a complete “power-hose”!
I also had to complain to our council here, about the state of the ladies at Baiter.
One thing I think I should suggest to Mr Mitchell though, having lived close to Poole quay, and walking along there every day: it is not the toilets under the building on the quay that smell, it is on the quayside itself, where the fishermen transport their catch and don’t hose down afterwards. That responsibility (I presume) is down to the harbour commissioners and not Poole council.
If that is the case, and they can rectify it, perhaps they could have a word with the inconsiderate fishermen that slam their boxes down at 5.45am every morning when they get ready to sail and make sure that they wake up all the residents that live in the local area!
