At last an admission from a cyclist who was totally aware that he was riding on a “no cycling” path (Have Your Say, Oct 16).
No wonder the person who accosted him was irate. In fact he would have been justified in attempting a citizen’s arrest.
I think Marc Paul’s comment about “people are being bombed and dying in wars because of hate” is ludicrous and completely insensitive to those unfortunate enough to be caught up in such horrendous conflicts.
Wars are usually territorial and/or religious whereas cycling without regard to byelaws and the safety of the public is sheer arrogance.
Rules are in place forthe benefit of all, including cyclists. I think pedestrians and motorists have been tolerant of “errant cyclists” for far too long, Mr Paul, and maybe that’s why folk in Bournemouth “hate cyclists”.
