I AM writing in response to the letter ‘Differences in closing dates’ published on 9 October.

Firstly, I would like to apologise for any confusion that the consultation for Yellow Bus route 36 may have caused.

I appreciate that this is an important service for many people, and assure you we are doing what we can to retain as much of this route as is possible.

In answer to your question, Bournemouth Borough Council and Borough of Poole are holding two separate and distinct consultations about the route.

Currently Bournemouth is looking at only route 36, whereas Poole’s consultation forms part of a much larger project involving a number of other routes, and therefore requires a significantly longer consultation period.

I urge all users to put their views forward; at Bournemouth, we will continue to accept responses for a few days after the consultation officially closes, and will continue accepting responses until 17 October. Residents who live within Poole are urged to direct their response at Borough of Poole, who are responsible for the parts of the route which pass through the borough.

All responses will be considered before a final decision is reached about the future of the service.

Head of transportation service,
