HOW ironic that Monsieur Larive (Have Your Say, October 13) accuses the UK of ‘telling others what to do’ in energy matters, when a giant wind farm like Navitus Bay would never be tolerated in his native France.

Indeed, plans for a much smaller wind farm near the Unesco site of Mont St Michel in Brittany were scrapped because of the visual threat it presented.

Yet M. Larive enthusiastically proposes the world’s biggest wind farm off our Jurassic Coast world heritage jewel.

Furthermore, rather than simply ‘telling other countries what to do’, the UK already has more offshore wind farms than the rest of Europe put together.

Fortunately most people disagree with M Larive, hence the record numbers of opponents to this huge and inappropriately sited industrial giant.

Not all are against wind farms generally.

Many simply feel that this development is far too big and too close to environmentally sensitive shorelines.
