THE Bournemouth Marathon Festival weekend must have been an outstanding success.

On Saturday all the equipment must have been assembled in the pouring rain but by the time we arrived to see the first race at 2pm the sun broke through.

All the hard work by the organisers was greatly appreciated by the runners and onlookers. There was a lovely atmosphere.

It was great to see the youngsters racing as if their lives depended on finishing, including my two grandsons.

I understand the rest of the afternoon and evening went well too and on Sunday we could hear the start of the marathon three miles away.

Well done to all participants and thank you to the organisers.
