WE now have a mobility scooter involved in a crash with a workman’s ladder. Fortunately the workman was only injured. It might have been worse.
Too many of these mobility scooters are geared to run at speeds far in excess of even a fast walking pace on pavements, precincts and shopping malls.
Often the ‘driver’ is fully able to walk, but as a man recently informed me, “it is my shopping vehicle, no VAT, no tax, no insurance costs”.
His quiet monster version swept past me and would have certainly injured me in a collision.
High time to act before there is a fatality.
