IT’S all very well Poole Borough Council finding £50,000 to tart up their favourite beauty spot at Coy Pond (Echo 8) when they can’t find a fraction of that to give disabled drivers extra parking places at Sainsbury’s in Poole.

We are sick to death of passing over 60 empty parking spaces on the way in, then having to wait for up to 15 minutes for a disabled space to become available. This happens at least twice a week at the popular time between 9.30 to 11.30am.

The powers that be might think that there are never more than three cars waiting. What they do not realise that when the disabled see cars waiting they just turn right and find the first empty normal spot.

I wrote to both the council and Sainsbury’s last December on this issue, showing a possible solution – all it needs is a pot of paint. The council wrote back saying that it is Sainsbury’s who decide how many spaces should be allowed.

So would all disabled who pass dozens of empty spaces coming in then find they have to queue, take the trouble to go in to the manager and ask, for compassion’s sake, a few more disabled spaces please.
