WHILE I find it extremely difficult to differentiate between the 'Yes' or 'No' vote towards Scotland's Independence (with the latest TV debate being less than helpful), I would now like to reflect on the basics of what it would really mean if Scotland left the UK.

First of all, it would mean our Union flag would no longer exist. This will of course affect many countries who carry that same emblem on their own colours. Australia and New Zealand to name just two.

It would mean we are no longer 'United' and even the term 'Great Britain' in its true sense would be diminished.

I sincerely believe that all Scotland's folk who want independence are being entirely selfish.

You already have exemptions in which most in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are very jealous.

You want to tear down our Union flag in which many throughout our small island have long fought and died for.

We English are so proud to be part of you when your bagpipes played throughout the battles of long gone.

You now want to end it all.

It will be a very sad day for our so very proud little Island if you do.
