BEING a local regular user as a pedestrian, cyclist and motorist, I cannot for the life of me understand why so much money is being spent on ‘improvements’ to the East Way/Castle Lane West junction, which hitherto has functioned perfectly well.

As they say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

Not to mention the 10 week roadwork inconvenience to road users, at some cost to the economy.

Yet half of Brackendale Road, a main route to the crematorium, is disintegrating before our very eyes, full of potholes and a bone-shaking surface for motorists.

Let’s get our priorities right before spending taxpayers money so profligately.
