I am rather surprised that no one in authority saw the recent article in the Sunday Times concerning how a town in Europe has solved the problem of a traveller invasion.
They should be welcomed by the use of a very large, powerful PA/tannoy system (protected by a selection of local ‘heavies’) which could supply our ‘guests’ with music 24 hours a day, loudly Perhaps it could be a classical selection, a Des O’Connor medley or even Tony Blackburn’s Greatest Hits.
I’m sure our guests would be very appreciative and I’m certain that the local residents wouldn’t object for just a few days –and nights.
After all we are supposed to be a welcoming conurbation.
