I SEE that the Creekmoor ‘park and ride’ site is again hosting a group of travellers, and that the council has provided them with toilet and rubbish facilities.

As a council tax payer I am concerned about the cost of these clean-ups and the legal costs involved in moving them on. It started me thinking as to whether there was an answer to this continuing problem, and I think I have found the ideal solution.

Why not use this area for its original purpose? I know that this idea has always been rejected on cost grounds – an argument I find unbelievable.

The number of town centre workers arriving between 8 and 9am and leaving between 5 and 6pm would fill the facility several times over.

Thus connecting transport would be required for approximately one hour mornings and evenings. The council could harmonise town centre parking charges with the park and ride charges presenting commuters with both economical and environmental reasons for using it.

If the council are unwilling to take it on I’m sure a private contractor would be happy to make it work.

Can it really be that simple, or am I missing something?
