I WOULD like to congratulate Eddie Coope and everyone who helped him organise the fantastic concert that was held at St Peter’s School in commemoration of the First World War.

The Swing Unlimited Big Band delivered a feast of nostalgic classics, and by the end of the evening, a lot of the audience were on their feet and jiving in the heat!

The Andrews Sisters were a great support to the Big Band and the entire evening was a great success.

The firework finale was one of the best I’ve ever seen, and was a lovely way to end the night.

The whole event, a joyous celebration on a beautiful summer’s day, seemed an entirely fitting tribute to those victims of war.

I believe that the local council were reluctant to stage such an event themselves.

What a pity, but what a triumph from Eddie Coope and his supporters.
