I AM extremely disappointed to see Poundland is setting up in the centre of Bournemouth.
This once great shopping Mecca dubbed “the Bond Street of the South” rivalled the likes of the bigger cities with its mix of high street stores and independents.
If you want great brands and shopping you must now head to Southampton or Exeter.
I appreciate Poundland will fill an empty shop, but Bournemouth council should be doing more to attract the many great brands that are missing from the town which could go a long way to restoring its historic reputation.
There are numerous empty premises in the town centre.
We want to attract more commerce in the town so get creative with the rates and rents and encourage quality brands to the major premises, rather than bargain basement purveyors.
Make Bournemouth great again and put it back on the Dorset map as a great retail therapy venue.
