HAVING become familiar with ‘public relations speak’ through my monitoring of council activities, I feel I must congratulate Mike Unsworth on his letter of July 15. It is a masterpiece of obfuscation containing not one fact in nearly 500 words.

I quote: “We have shortlisted three local ports.”

This is for local jobs. The three are Yarmouth Isle of Wight, Portland and Poole. Only one local then, Mr Unsworth.

He then goes on to say, “Our own local polling conducted by Opinion Matters has shown that a clear majority of local people support the wind park.” So it is a ‘park’ now, not a wind factory or even a farm. Park is so much more user friendly.

So where are the details of this poll? It must have been a cardboard cut out of Mr Unsworth at the BIC public meeting. He cannot have been there in person or he would have recognised the strength of public feeling against this monstrous and pointless project.

Finally, perhaps Mr Unsworth could give us the real facts behind the Navitus Bay project. Exactly how much money will his company receive in government and EU funding?

How much profit does he expect to make over the lifetime of the windmills? How much will he earn as a result of forcing the project through? How much will his company lose if it does not go ahead? This is the nitty gritty. Saving the planet does not come into it.
