Does Cllr Anne Rey really think she is representing her residents’ best interests when she says “Nobody has... said they need a cycle lane along Castle Lane”?

I’m sure they haven’t Cllr.

They also haven’t requested that children be denied independent mobility and safe residential streets. They haven’t asked for high pollution levels and congestion.

No-one said they wanted our country to be the most obese in Europe and that our children’s life expectancy be shorter than their parents’.

I have a tiny risk of being killed by a mugger, but we are universally appalled by such an event and our laws deal with it accordingly.

I have a tiny risk of dying in a plane crash, but we are universally shocked by such an event and our authorities investigate that rigorously. If I die on the road, I have no confidence that there will be punishment applied, prevention sought, nor lessons learned.

We continue to build dangerous roads then spend money telling people how dangerous they are.

We accept the sudden death of people at the hands of others as an inevitability rather than striving to address it.

You have a duty of care to your residents, Cllr Rey. I suggest you take it seriously.
