LIKE your correspondent Patrick McDonald (Letters, January 20), I can remember many presentations on proposals for exciting new projects in the town of Poole.
Members of the public have usually been invited to comment on these tasty-looking schemes: at one of the more recent ones I wrote in the ‘comments’ section that, on past record, I was convinced it would never happen. It gives me a very gloomy sort of satisfaction to be right: sadly, I am convinced that Poole is stuck firmly in the ruts of a slow and steady route to decline.
In order to have any hope of revival we really do need to see some transformational building projects in the town.
How about turning the whole town into a ‘shared space’ like Drachten in the Netherlands?
