IN considering the application for the Morrison’s development the Christchurch Planning Committee should take into consideration the following fact.

The elderly in Mudeford, many who had to give up their cars because of the expense, have no opportunity to shop locally this side of the bridge.

With all the shopping development taking place in Somerford Road, the only direct bus route for pensioners is to the town centre. However, Waitrose and Marks and Spencer are too expensive for many pensioners’ budgets, and the Co-op only offers a limited selection.

Therefore, Morrison’s will not only be an asset to the town, encouraging more visitors to the town centre, but will also be an asset to the elderly including those who will be buying property in the new Churchill flats development on the Stony Lane/Bridge Street corner.

Also in view of the increase of employment the new store and Beagles would bring, it is indisputable that this application should finally be approved.
