Happy times at church hall
AN ‘Echoes of the Past’ picture of Winton with its 1960s Sainsbury shop and Winton Methodist Church opposite was quite a surprise to me, recalling many happy occasions at the church.
Evacuated to grannies in the war, on Osborne Road I attended Sunday School from 1940s onwards.
I also enjoyed the youth club there in my teens. Plus I married my wife there in March 1953.
We didn’t quite make to the diamond anniversary.
It gets lonely on dark, cold wet winter nights.
