RATHER than Sport England worrying about a tiny percentage of playing fields being lost in Swanage, I would ask them to focus on the loss of Wareham Middle School playing fields completely.

These are the only fields left in Wareham for all the weekend children’s games.

Volunteers run numerous clubs throughout the weekends. Dorset County Council propose to sell the fields for development.

At the same time they plan to build a footbridge over the very busy Wareham Bypass and then build completely new playing fields on green belt on the other side of the road, immediately next to the burial ground.

Imagine the feelings of those trying to listen to a service against the background of noisy teenagers playing games. This for Upper School use.

The Middle School field is a few yards further from the Upper School, but there is already a zebra crossing in place and the road is far less busy than the bypass. Adequate changing rooms are already in place at the Middle School.
