Two of the best on their way to town
ON THEIR WAY TO TOWN: The Yardbirds
ON THEIR WAY TO TOWN: The Yardbirds

Two 1960s sensations come to Bournemouth this spring, as part of their major UK tour.

The Zombies and The Yardbirds - the band that featured not only Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page but Jeff Beck on guitar at various times - are on tour together in Britain for the first time.

They will perform at the Pavilion Theatre on Wednesday, June 4.

The Zombies enjoyed global popularity and are best known for their hit singles She's Not There and Tell Her No.

Lead singer Colin Blunstone and keyboard player Rod Argent have also enjoyed solo success, and the band are considered to have influenced modern acts such as REM and Super Furry Animals.

The Yardbirds were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.

Their best-loved singles include For Your Love and Heart Full of Soul.

They reformed in 1995, with John Idan replacing lead singer Keith Ralph, who was electrocuted in 1976.
