Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (15) Sony ***

AFTER Dewey Cox is involved in a tragic play-fighting accident with his brother, resulting in what the family physician refers to as "a particularly bad case of somebody being cut in half".

The boy's father, Pa, never forgives Dewey for the death of his favourite son. Thankfully, Dewey is rescued from the fiery pits of hell by his love of music and he leaves town with his girlfriend Edith on his way to fame and fortune.

Walk Hard hits too many bum notes to reach any giddy heights, but Dewey's encounter with The Beatles is inspired.

For the most part, the writers choose obvious targets and they hit as many as they miss.
