FIVE county records fell as the Dorset youth team took on the best of Britain at Sheffield – but relegation from Division One could not be prevented.

Poole’s British age group and UK School Games champion Jacob Peters was responsible for three of the five records broken.

The 15-year-old won the 14-15yrs 100m butterfly in 56.58 seconds and the 100m backstroke in 57.91, breaking records held by Seth Chappels since 1998 and Alan Wong since 2013, respectively.

He also broke his own 50m backstroke junior record with 26.95 as he led the 14-15yrs 4x50m medley relay team of Kelvin Wong, Christian Tai and Ben Samuel to 10th place.

Men’s captain Zak Aitchison (Bournemouth Collegiate School) became the first Dorset man to go under 1min 05sec in the 100m breaststroke as he came fifth in the 16-17yrs event.

His time of 1:04.88 clipped 0.27sec off Jack Burton’s Dorset senior record from 2013.

Poole’s Harriet Perfect completed the record-breaking with ninth place in the 14-15yrs 100m backstroke in 1:03.53, breaking Jessica Brown’s county junior standard from 1999.

Finn Trehane (BCS) achieved second in the 12-13yrs 100m breaststroke in 1:09.86 and was sixth in the 100m backstroke in 1:04.38.

Ben Samuel (BCS) was ninth in the 14-15yrs 100m freestyle in 54.74.

Top-10 finishes came from girls’ captain Madison Kemp (Poole) in the 16-17yrs 100m butterfly in 1:04.02 and BCS’s Kayla van der Merwe in the 12-13yrs 100m breaststroke (1:17.71).
