BOURNEMOUTH Collegiate School extended their gold rush as the South West Age Group Championships concluded at Millfield – and this time it was not only Finn Trehane who made the podium’s top step.

Twelve-year-old team-mate Ella Chown – a triple silver medallist two weeks earlier – twice went one better as she won the 11-12yrs 50m and 200m butterfly in 31.41 and 2:41.10, respectively.

But Trehane was Dorset’s star of the championships, adding six more medals to the four golds he won at Plymouth.

Four of his latest six awards were gold as he won the 13yrs 50m and 100m breaststroke in 34.52 and 1:13.77, respectively, the 200m backstroke in 2:24.57 and the 200m individual medley in 2:26.10.

He was also the regional silver medallist in the 100m butterfly (1:05.69) and bronze medallist in the 100m freestyle (1:00.34).

Jack Arnell’s silver in the 14yrs 1500m freestyle in 17:15.62 and Christian Tai’s bronze in the 14yrs 400m medley in 5:06.72 took to 10 the BCS tally at Millfield.

Across the two weekends, the Southbourne school won 20 medals – more than the rest of Dorset’s clubs put together.

Twelve-year-old Miles Ward gave Seagulls their first regional gold of 2015 as he won the 11-12yrs 1500m freestyle in 19:02.37.

Max Weeks added a silver in the 13yrs 100m freestyle in 59.88 and a bronze in the 100m fly in 1:07.76.

Between them, Ward and Weeks won seven regional medals.

Swim Bournemouth’s medal drought ended in style with a three silver medals and a bronze.

Jessica Kelleway was second in the 11-12yrs 200m and 400m free in 2:18.60 and 4:52.66, respectively.

Silver also went to Oliver Fairman in the 13yrs 1500m free (19:14.73) and bronze to Hannah Stonier in the 200m fly (2:33.05).

Poole’s Jasmine McCrae followed in the footsteps of first-weekend medallists Robbie Hemmings and Teagan-Mae Graham when she took silver in the 14yrs 50m fly in 30.00.
