TWO Canford School cricketers have etched their names in the history books thanks to their exploits with the bat.

Felix Ambrose and Felix Organ both hit unbeaten centuries in a thumping win over Somerset-based Millfield School.

It was the first time in 11 years that two pupils had crashed through the 100 mark in the same match.

Captain Ambrose and opener Organ were on 113 and 107, respectively, when Canford passed the Millfield target of 245 to win by nine wickets.

Ambrose, who plays for Lymington in the Southern Premier League, is no stranger to heavy knocks with the bat.

The youngster had previously bludgeoned three centuries for his school's first XI.

Organ, who has already played for Hampshire II, has two and half more seasons to add to his tally.

The duo are far from alone in their batting prowess with fellow pupils Mike Galley (14B) and George Grisley (thirds) also hitting the century mark.

Ambrose also proved himself more than useful with the ball when he took five for 20 against Winchester College.

Tony Graham (14A) returned phenomenal figures of six for 10, Tom Patrick (15B) took five for 16 and spinner Jai Ramchandani achieved a hat-trick for the second XI.

The first, second and third teams have enjoyed strong starts to the summer, as have the under-15 and under-14 teams.

Director of cricket and former Hampshire ace Matt Keech revealed his delight at the performances produced by players at the school.

He said: β€œThe individual and group coaching that the school offers throughout the winter is having a particularly beneficial effect.

"This is reflected both in the depth of talent available at all age groups and the fact that over 30 boys are also playing representative cricket – 20 of them at county level.

"We are looking forward to building on this momentum through the rest of the season.”
