NEW Milton teenager Kathy Rogers is heading for the inaugural European Games in Azerbaijan in June – and a couple of exam papers may be going with her.

The 16-year-old centre-back scored 11 goals as the GB under-17 team came second in their qualifying tournament in Nice, France.

Seven of them came in a 30–0 thrashing of Switzerland, which secured qualification with goal difference of plus 52.

But the one hiccup is that she is due to take physics and history GSCE papers during the Games.

Rogers, who plays for Christchurch Seagulls and top London club Otter, said: “I’m hoping the exam board will assess me on coursework and the other paper in each subject but if not I may be able to take them in the British Embassy.

“Several other girls also have GCSE or AS exams and I’m more worried about having to train throughout my GCSEs.”

Britain began the Nice tournament with a 26–3 thumping of Portugal before an 8–8 draw with the Czech Republic and 13–12 defeat to tournament winners France.

Swim Bournemouth’s Spencer Wilks will not be joining Rogers in Baku after Britain’s boys’ under-17 team lost 7–6 to their qualifying tournament hosts Malta in their final match.
