POOLE AC rallied after a transport crisis to secure their first South West Athletics League title since 2006.

Anyone who thought PAC only needed to turn up to win was feeling pretty sick when the bus broke down half-way to Exeter. However, enough of the squad reached the Arena to cover events until the main body arrived on a replacement coach.

Alex Hately (11.41s, 22.83s) and Steffi Wilson (12.43s, 25.31s) each scored senior sprint doubles, with Scott Rutter (11.32s, 22.89s), Chris McIntosh (12.03s, 24.42s) and Lewis Naptin (13.68s, 29.36s) repeating the feat in the younger age groups.

Alex Lee was a senior runner-up twice (200m 23.06s, 400m hurdles 59.83s) and third three times (100m 11.57s, triple jump 12.03m, shot 10.72m). Rob McTaggart was second over 5000m (16:13.85) and third in the 800m (2:14.11) behind runner-up Jamie Grose (2:03.30). Rhys Bennett placed second in the triple jump (12.21m) and third in the 400m hurdles (61.50s). Jamie Welborn (high jump 1.70m) and Andrew Elkins (javelin 47.32m) each achieved third places.

Versatile George Walker was second in three junior men’s events (400m hurdles 68.05s, high jump 1.65m, discus 28.90m). Alex Martin was third in the triple jump (10.50m).

Alexandra Phillips won the 800m (2:26.84). Ruth Kerley was second in both discus and hammer (23.32m, 25.60m), with Michelle Wells third in each (22.86m, 20.71m). Hollie Aldridge was 400m hurdles runner-up (69.40s) and Rachel Welch second in the long jump (4.67m).

Ashleigh Power dominated the under-17 hammer with 48.62m. Olivia Hunter won the 300m hurdles (47.76m) and was second in both sprints (13.24s, 27.73s). Aiste Razmaite clocked 10:35.52 for 3,000m victory. Bobbie Louise Gannon was second in the discus (21.45m) and Emma Palmer third (2:25.38) over 800m. Ryan Long won his long jump (5.79m) and was second in the discus (33.64m).

Amelia Davis was twice an under-15 runner-up (200m 28.64s, 800m 2:28.73), with Jake Newnham third in the triple jump (10.51m). Among the under-13s, Caitlin Batcheldor won the shot with 8.13m, while Katie Corbin (long jump 4.03m) and Adam Booth (200m 30.55s) achieved third places.
