SWIM Bournemouth and newly-promoted Poole have been drawn to face each other when the National Arena League’s Western Premier Division gets underway next month.

And Swim Bournemouth hope to have their new international star Jay Lelliott in their line-up.

Dorset’s top two teams will also take on Millfield, Swim Swansea, City of Cardiff and West Wilts Force 5 on October 11 at a venue yet to be announced.

Lelliott, bronze medallist in the 400m freestyle at last month’s European Championships and a Commonwealth Games and European finalist in the 1500m, told the Echo he is hoping to swim in all three league rounds if other swimming commitments allow.

“The Arena League is a fun competition and I really want to help out the team if I can,” said Lelliott, who returns to full training at Bath University on Sunday.

“I get on really well with the Swim Bournemouth guys and it will be nice to see them again.”

In Division One, Swim Bournemouth B and relegated Christchurch Seagulls are also drawn in the same gala along with Dawlish, Barnstaple, Clevedon, Severnside Tritons, Southwold and Torfaen Dolphins.

In Division Two, North Dorset Turbos and league returnees Tornadoes of South Dorset take on Swim Swansea B, Severnside Tritons, United Bristol, West Wilts Force 5 B and Wells.

Meanwhile, Swim Bournemouth’s youngsters head for Swindon this Saturday with high hopes of winning the Southern Junior League for the third year running. Victory would take them to next month’s South of England final which doubles as a semi-final for the national final at Corby, Northants, in November.
