TWO of Swim Bournemouth’s youngest swimmers led the way as the club retained the top club trophy at the Dorset Development Meet.

Nine-year-old Aimie Quarrie and Drew McGregor, 10, each won five gold medals and set two competitions best times (CBTs).

Quarrie’s records came in the 50m butterfly (43.95) and 100m individual medley (IM, 1:30.50) and she also won the 50m breaststroke and 200m IM.

McGregor set CBTs in the 100m breaststroke (1:40.45) and 200m butterfly (3:39.53) and also won the 100m backstroke and 100m IM.

Danielle Thwaites won the girls’ freestyle skins as well as setting CBTs in the 16-18yrs 50 and 100m freestyle (29.58 and 1:04.02).

Tiger Kelleway secured a hat-trick of gold medals as he won the 12yrs 100 and 200m freestyle and 200m IM, breaking CBTs in the freestyle events (1:05.26 and 2:23.57).

Izzy Pryce had a similar set of results, setting CBTs in the 13yrs 100 and 200m IM (1:12.00 and 2:32.28) and also winning the 200m freestyle.

Hermione Cull’s four victories included a CBT of 1:24.49 in the 10yrs 100m backstroke. She also won the 100 and 200m IM and 400m freestyle.

Morgan Long set a CBT of 37.89 as she won the 13yrs 50m breaststroke (37.89) as well as the 200m breaststroke and butterfly.

Other Swim Bournemouth CBT-breakers were Ajay Coombes in the 10yrs 50m breaststroke (46.00), Harley Kenny in the 12yrs 100m breaststroke (1:27.17) and Megan Leaper in the 14yrs 100m backstroke (1:12.78).

Jess Kelleway was a triple winner in the 11yrs 100 and 200m freestyle and 50m breaststroke, contributing to a Swim Bournemouth tally of 61 gold, 41 silver and 32 bronze.

Josh Wickens won the most improved IM swimmer award.
