SOME 26 schools sent their top athletes to the prestigious Bournemouth Primary Schools Sports Competition with a host of winners across track and field events.
Youngsters competed across nine categories and three age groups in the annual meeting which has now run for more than 20 years with the top three performers all moving on to the county final at King’s Park on July 12.
On the track, Jack Bedford (Moordown St John’s) and Milly Davis (Christchurch) won the year four 60m, while Bailey Fisher-Hughes (Muscliff) and Isabelle Franklin (Moordown) took top honours in the year five 75m. St James pair Tarik Manneh and Charlotte Fitzpatrick finished first in the year six 75m.
Ryan Finnegan (St James) and Ashia Wilson (St Katherine’s) were top of the charts in the year five 150m, with Dan Larkin (Mudeford) and Elle Ward (St Walburga’s) victorious in the year six section.
Distance runners James Cass (St Luke’s) and Madison Crabb (Kinson) were first in the year six 600m, while Charlie Keen (Stourfield) and Jasmine Stocker (Muscliff) were first in the year five 55m hurdles, while the year six 55m was dominated by St Katherine’s duo Leon Palmer and Bethany Partridge.
St Katherine’s also had winning quartets in the year five 4x75m relays. The boys’ team comprised Archie Corbin, Leo Rushbrook- Bates, Harvey Stocks and Finley Hallett, while the girls’ team was made up of Eva Thomson, Amelia Verney, Ashia Wilson and Lily Rayner.
In the field events, Zak El-Basir (Muscliff) and Amber Watkins (Hillview) won the year five high jump, with Max Massie (St Katherine’s) and Macy Fenwick (St Mark’s) taking the year six titles.
In the long jump, Fred Regenhardt (Stourfield), Rosie Siviter (Bournemouth Park) won in year four, Leo Rushbrook-Bates and Lily Rayner (both St Katherine’s) in year five and Oli Johnson (Stourfield) and Sian Meadows (Corpus Christi) in year six.
Throwing competitions were won by Edward Kimber and Hermione Cull (both Moordown) in year five and Lewis Wykes (St Katherine’s) and Yasmin Muller (Talbot Heath) in year six.
