WIMBORNE are celebrating a clean sweep of all four Dorset county junior trophies.

Making up the winning quartet were the under-13s who toppled Bournemouth 17-5 in their final encounter.

The under-13s and under-14s play their Dorset & Wilts finals, both against Chippenham, on Sunday, April 13 at Devizes.

The under-15s lock horns with Salisbury in their final on Sunday at North Dorset RFC.

The under-16s, meanwhile, have already been crowned Twin Counties champions following their 20-7 win over Wootton Bassett.

Other Dorset Cup final results: Wimborne under-16s 27 Dorchester 7, Wimborne under-15s 22 Bournemouth 10, Wimborne under-14s 17 Bournemouth 5.

  •  Wimborne also claimed the under-12s ‘minis’ county trophy with a narrow victory over Bournemouth thanks to a try from Jacob Berry.

In the pool games, Wimborne beat Swans, Oaks, Sherborne and Weymouth.

  •  Oakmeadians, meanwhile, won the Dorset Cup in the under-11 mini section with a 5-0 win over Wimborne at Leigh Park.

It is the Meyrick Park-based team’s first county silverware.

Team manager Matthew Dancey said: “The boys played magnificently with sustained drive and determination throughout their five games without conceding a try.

“We now have 32 members and are enjoying our most successful season so far.”

The under-11 and under-12 county winners also progress to the Dorset & Wilts finals on Sunday.

  •  Bournemouth Rugby Football Club’s academy will be holding its annual youth tournament at Chapel Gate on Saturday.

Poole-based integrated security solutions manufacturer TDSi will be supplying the rugby balls.

The event is expected attract approximately 2,000 young players from across the UK.
