EIGHT-year-old motocross whizzkid Shea Wylie has been crowned a 2012 Automatic 50cc Club Champion.

Shea, from Parkstone, received his award at the Portsmouth Schoolboy Scramble Club's presentation at the Novotel Hotel Southampton.

The Talbot Heath Primary School pupil was at the ceremony with his supportive parents Simon and Becky and grandmother Sandra.

Shea competes on a standard production KTM 50cc machine and is supported by Dennis and Paul Swyer from Future Racing UK on the Nuffield Industrial Estate.

After just over three seasons of racing the championship success couldn’t have come at a better time for Shea.

Next year he moves up to the bigger Junior class on a KTM 65cc for eight to 10-year-olds. The next presentation of awards for the 2012 motocross season are on Saturday, December 15, at the Oakdene Forest Park, St Leonard’s, Ringwood.

This will be when the Wylie household discover if Shea has become club champion for his home club, the Ringwood Schoolboy Scramble Club.

And with the overall runners-up prize from the final of the All South Coast Auto 50cc Challenge under his belt, Shea is one of the favourites.

Upton’s Mitchell Pocklington is another top candidate as 40 Auto members seek club recognition.

The Ringwood Motocross Club are now recruiting new members for the 2013 season from Auto 50cc boys and girls who start racing from as young as six years-old to adults who race in either the Adult AMX Open or Adult Novice/Vets Open class.
