Lytchett Minster Rugby Club took a road trip to the Madejski Stadium in Reading last month to take part in the live televised match between London Irish and Harlequins. It was a good opportunity for the children of the club to watch both teams warm up on the pitch from the touch line and have official photographs taken at the ground.

Thirty-five youngsters and 50 adults, together with many of the coaches, travelled to Berkshire.

It was a memorable experience for the youth and minis section to get up close to some of the England players including Alex Corbisiero and Jonathan Joseph, and watch the other players from both teams conduct warm-up drills.

The highlight of the day for the youngsters was the privilege of cheering the teams on to the pitch while waving London Irish flags as they formed a guard of honour.

The game ended in one of the closest finishes this season where the Quins snatched the game from Irish on a television match official decision to record a 31-28 victory.

The visit was just one of the innovative experiences that Lytchett Minster RFU can offer any young rugby enthusiastic. If anyone would like to get involved or take part in mini, junior or youth rugby, please contact sandyjaneking@gmail.com or go to www.lmrfc.com
