DANNY KEEN ON NEW DEAL
FANS' FAVOURITE: Danny Hollands is waiting for a new offer to drop on his doormat
FANS' FAVOURITE: Danny Hollands is waiting for a new offer to drop on his doormat

FANS' favourite Danny Hollands says he is keen to extend his stay at Dean Court and is hoping to reach agreement with Cherries on a new deal.

Hollands, who crowned an impressive campaign by lifting the prestigious Micky Cave-Daily Echo supporters' player of the year award, is one of eight players whose existing contract is up at the end of next month.

The 22-year-old midfielder caught the eye with a series of wholehearted displays last season and firmly established himself as one of the key figures in Kevin Bond's squad following an indifferent first year with the club.

Hollands, who joined Cherries on a free from Chelsea two years ago, told the Daily Echo: "From a personal point of view, it wasn't a bad season and I thought I did quite well.

"I made a lot more appearances than in my first season and also got my fair share of goals. But although I felt I did okay, I would have swapped everything for staying up."

Hollands added: "I've been here for two years and love the place and the people. The fans and the lads are great so there would be no problems with staying here.

"I'd like to stay but it's not always as easy as that. There are a lot of things that go on and you have to agree things. When you get relegated, there is a budget you have to reach as a club.

"I'm not a greedy person by any means but I just want to be treated fairly. If I am then I'm sure I will stay. I've spoken to the club and am just waiting for the chairman to send me an offer."

Hollands certainly reaped the benefits after taking "a long, hard look" at himself last summer following what he described as an "up and down" debut season at Dean Court.

The former Chelsea youth and reserve team skipper said: "I was frustrated because I wasn't playing.

"I had a year left on my contract and put in a lot of hard work last summer which paid off because I kept my place this season. I found that the hardest part once I was in the team was staying there but I kept focussed and kept my place.

"As a squad, I think we had a good season and a lot of players have had clubs sniffing around. If everything is right, I think a lot of the players will stay because none of us wants relegation on our CV and the only way we can correct it is by coming back up next year."

Well done Danny, Have a word with Gowling will you! The last time we were relegated the players that took us down stayed together vowing to take us back up.
Loyalty and togetherness is a big thing.

Hope you stay Danny, the fans here hold you in high regard. If you were to leave - what sort of club would give you the lifestyle you have here ?
Also it would mean a hell of a lot to the fans if those players who stuck together at the end of the season continued their good work and had a cracking season starting August.

Great attitude Danny...you set an example to the likes of Spicer and Elliot. Best of luck next term.

Elliot? What you mean stayed with us when we went down and played a big part in our promotion the next year before being sold by the club to Burnley?

If thats how it pans out with Danny I'll be more than happy.

I concur with the comments above. Danny may well be our most influential player now and will likely only get better next season.

On another note, just heard Risdale state categorically on 5 Live that Harry Redknapp will not be retiring after the game on Saturday.

I agree Danny got better and better as the season went on, well done mate and i hope you stay but don`t hold your breath on the Chairman contacting you, we aint got one.

Jeff (god bless him) still thinks he`s in charge but legally Mr Krasner makes the decisions and remember we are all still waiting for M & S to make a bid ( again).

It must be very hard for all the players and staff not knowing whats going on but we the fans are used to it because little and large have never told us anything throughout their tenure. The players and staff need to know what the future holds and so do we so come on pinky and perky do you have the cash or are we going out of business ???????????

Top Man Danny. The squad seemed to really bond in the 2nd half of the season and if we do keep the majority together, next season will be quality.

I think you have been at something dear dragon, you are getting confused about the players and their commitment, Danny is a great lad for wanting to stay which should encourage others but what it has to do with Elliot when he did the same thing is confusing, I am really starting to think the air down under is getting to you lol.

Well it's good news we wants to stay, but the reality is that he is out of contract at the end of the June.

If the M&S (or whoever else steps in if their bid falls apart again) haven't got their act together by then he is out of a job and would have to listen to other offers from clubs who are looking to pick up our better players for free.

Let's hope that the ownership situation is sorted before that happens.
